CHECK JAVA VERSION
For Windows XP users, from desktop go to Start menu > Control Panel. Open Java and select the General Tab. Click About.
For Windows 2000 or 98 users, from desktop go to Start menu > Settings > Control Panel.
Open Java and select the General Tab. Click About.
Beside Version you should see something like this: 1.5.0 build 1.5.0_10b03. The numbers after the dash refer to the update version. For example, the _10b03 in the above example refers to Java J2SE 1.5 update 10.
HOW TO UNINSTALL JAVA J2SE
Follow these instructions if you are having problems using the later versions of Java:
In Windows XP:
Go to Start – Control Panel
Click on Add/Remove Programs
Scroll down the listing to find Java to select it and click Remove.
In Windows 2000 or 98:
Go to Start – Setting – Control Panel
Click on Add/Remove Programs
Scroll down the listing to find Java to select it and click Remove.
